Admissions

After looking over the school and becoming familiar with the school philosophy and requirements, all parents desiring the enrollment of their children in the school should fill out an application packet and turn it in to the principal. After reviewing the application, if the student meets the requirements necessary to be a student of ODCA, an interview will be set up with the parents, the child, and the principal to determine final acceptance.

Parents must keep in mind that ODCA is not designed for everyone. The school was established to help students who come from solidly committed Christian homes of like faith and who have a sincere love for Jesus Christ. The student must also demonstrate an academic ability that would allow him to do well with the challenging curriculum that he would encounter. Unfortunately, ODCA is not able to meet the needs of those students requiring special education. Students who have learning disabilities or who are below their grade level, would be better served outside ODCA.

Children must meet the following age requirements on or before September 1 to be eligible for the corresponding classes:  4 years old for preschool; 5 years old for kindergarten; and 6 years old for 1st grade.

Open
Door Christian Academy
admits students of any race, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, responsibilities, programs, and activities generally accorded to or made available to students at Open Door Christian Academy. The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, athletic or other school-administered programs.

Proper health and immunization records must be on file for all students. Students entering Oregon schools for the first time, ages 5-14, must have an immunization form properly completed by the first day of school. All new students may be required to take standardized tests for evaluation and placement analysis. Records from previous schools attended need to be forwarded for proper evaluation.

Student registration may be finalized beginning February 1 for the next school year. Members of Open Door Baptist Church and siblings of ODCA students will have first priority in available openings
for classes. All necessary forms must be completed, and the registration fee paid before final acceptance can be granted. The registration fee is $75-$150 per student depending on the time of application. Open Door Christian Academy reserves the right of setting and maintaining its own standards in regards to student conduct, dress, and scholarship. The school maintains the right to refuse admittance to anyone who violates the standards in this handbook. It should be noted that attendance at ODCA is considered a privilege, not a right. The school also reserves the right of not specifically defining the criteria or reasons when students are not admitted, although reasonable attempts will be made to promote understanding in these situations.
